On Sunday, New York suffer an away defeat to New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. After today’s result, Revs and NYC currently occupy 1st and 4th spots in the table, with 52 points and 34 points respectively after 31 matches.
The Pigeons started strongly in the first half, thanks to Rodríguez giving NYC the lead at the 12 minute mark. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Boateng equalised for Revs in the 21st minute, which saw the first half end 1-1.
Revs rallied after this and were rewarded, with Buchanan finding the net at the 65 minute mark. The final result, Revs 2, NYC 1.
For Revs, Carles Gil, Buksa, Buchanan and Caldwell, came on for Boateng, Edward Kizza, Kaptoum and Bunbury. NYC brought on Andres Jasson, Acevedo and Ismael Tajouri, to replace Rodríguez, Talles Magno and Castellanos.
The referee booked Henry Kessler, Buksa, Polster and Carles Gil from Revs. NYC had the worst of it though, with Morales, Castellanos and Andrade seeing yellow, and Morales (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.
Revs will next play Philadelphia Union away, with NYC facing FC Dallas at home.
