Minnesota 3 – Union 2- Victory denied for visitors as The Loons win

Minnesota United strolled past Philadelphia Union with a 3-2 win on Thursday at Allianz Field. Following today’s result, Minnesota are currently 6th with 44 points from 40 matches, while Union sit in 3rd, with 46 points from 40.

The Loons started the first half well, thanks to a goal from Hunou, 41 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Gazdag equalised for Union just before half-time, finalising the first half 1-1.

Union started the second half with an intensified spirit, with Gazdag finding the net again, at 54 minutes. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Lod managed to equalize and take the sides off, 63 minutes in at 2-2. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Fragapane at the 67 minute mark with a final score of 3-2.

For Minnesota, Lod, Alonso, Rosales and Adi, came on for Finlay, Hunou, Fragapane and Reynoso. Union brought on Jack Mcglynn, Aaronson and Fontana, to replace Leon Flach, José Martinez and Mbaizo.

The referee booked Reynoso from Minnesota and Métanire went off with a red card, while Union’s Mbaizo, Wagner and José Martinez also received a yellow.
