Juventus 3-1 Genoa – The Old Lady avoid defeat and secure a 3-1 victory at home to The Red and Blues

Genoa on away loss to Juve at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Juve arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Torino in their previous game. Genoa, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. After today’s result, Juve and Genoa currently occupy 3rd and 13th spots in the league, with 62 points and 32 points respectively after 30 matches.

Juve started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to an early goal from Dejan Kulusevski in the 4th minute. The Old Lady then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Alvaro Morata in the 22nd minute to see out the first half 2-0.

The Red and Blues started the second half with an intensified spirit, with an early goal from Gianluca Scamacca in the 49th minute. Juve in turn, then responded in the 70th minute increasing their lead with an effort from Weston McKennie and seeing the game end 3-1.

For Juve, Alex Sandro, Paulo Dybala, Weston McKennie, Arthur and Aaron Ramsey, came on for Juan Cuadrado, Alvaro Morata, Dejan Kulusevski, Federico Chiesa and Adrien Rabiot. Genoa replaced Marko Pjaca, Paolo Ghiglione, Miha Zajc, Eldor Shomurodov and Filippo Melegoni with Valon Behrami, Davide Biraschi, Nicolo Rovella, Goran Pandev and Gianluca Scamacca.

There were bookings for Juan Cuadrado, Dejan Kulusevski and Alex Sandro from Juve. For Genoa, Valon Behrami, Nicolo Rovella and Domenico Criscito saw yellow.

Next up, Juve are away to Atalanta, whilst Genoa will travel to face AC Milan.
