Sassuolo fell to an away defeat at the hands of Internazionale at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday. Inter were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games against Bologna away and Torino away, by 1-0 and 2-1 respectively. Sassuolo secured a point against Roma in their previous match. At the moment, Inter are in 1st place on the table and has 71 points while Sassuolo sit in 9th with 40 points after 28 matches.
Inter started the game well, thanks to Romelu Lukaku giving The Black and Blues the lead in the 10th minute, ending the first half 1-0.
Inter continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Lautaro Martinez at the 67 minute mark. Sassuolo in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Hamed Junior Traore and seeing the game end 2-1.
For Inter, Stefano Sensi, Matias Vecino and Alexis Sanchez, came on for Jeremy Toljan, Rogerio, Jeremie Boga and Vlad Chiriches. Sassuolo brought on Lukas Haraslin, Giorgos Kyriakopoulos, Brian Oddei and Isaac Karamoko, to replace Jeremy Toljan, Rogerio, Jeremie Boga and Vlad Chiriches.
There were bookings for Nicolo Barella and Ashley Young from Inter. For Sassuolo, Andrea Consigli, Hamed Junior Traore and Maxime Lopez saw yellow.
