Genoa 2-0 Spezia Calcio: Visiting Spezia left with nothing after The Griffin take all 3 points

Genoa eased past Spezia Calcio in a 2-0 victory on Saturday at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Genoa arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 2-2 draw against Benevento. Spezia had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Internazionale. As things stand, Genoa are in 13th place, with 36 points from 33 matches, while Spezia sit in 15th, with 33 points from 33.

After a goalless first half, The Griffin piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Gianluca Scamacca giving Genoa the lead at the 62 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Eldor Shomurodov just before the final whistle to make it 2-0.

For Genoa, Gianluca Scamacca, Valon Behrami, Eldor Shomurodov and Francesco Cassata, came on for Goran Pandev, Marko Pjaca, Mattia Destro and Kevin Strootman. Spezia replaced Nahuel Estevez, Daniele Verde, Julian Chabot, Kevin Agudelo and Andrey Galabinov with Giulio Maggiore, Diego Farias, Claudio Terzi, Luca Vignali and Emmanuel Gyasi.

There were bookings for Domenico Criscito and Goran Pandev from Genoa, and Claudio Terzi and M’bala Nzola, for Spezia.

Next up, Genoa are away to Lazio, whilst Spezia will travel to face Hellas Verona.
