Genoa 1-1 Fiorentina – The Red and Blues fail to take all three points, after 1-1 draw with The Purples

On Saturday, Genoa and Fiorentina were held to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Genoa were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Fiorentina lost 3-2 in the last match they played against AC Milan. As it stands, Genoa are in 13th place on the table and has 32 points while Fiorentina sit in 14th with 30 points after 29 matches.

The Red and Blues started strongly in the first half, thanks to a goal from Mattia Destro, on 13 minutes. However, their lead was short lived, as Dusan Vlahovic equalised for Fiorentina, 23 minutes in. The score at half time was 1-1. The second part ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Genoa, Miha Zajc, Paolo Ghiglione, Marko Pjaca, Filippo Melegoni and Eldor Shomurodov, came on for Martin Caceres, Giacomo Bonaventura, Gaetano Castrovilli, Dusan Vlahovic and Lorenzo Venuti. Fiorentina brought on Cristiano Biraghi, Valentin Eysseric, Jose Callejon, Christian Kouame and Sofyan Amrabat for Martin Caceres, Giacomo Bonaventura, Gaetano Castrovilli, Dusan Vlahovic and Lorenzo Venuti.

The referee booked Kevin Strootman and Miha Zajc from Genoa. Fiorentina had the worst of it though, with Erick Pulgar seeing yellow, and Franck Ribery then sent off with a red.

Genoa will play away against Juventus, while Fiorentina will face Atalanta at home.
