D.C. United strolled past Philadelphia Union with a 3-1 win on Sunday at Audi Field. Following today’s result, D.C. are currently 7th with 30 points from 29 matches, while Union sit in 5th, with 32 points from 29.
Union started strongly in the first half, with Birnbaum giving Union the lead, 22 minutes in. However, their lead was short lived, as Kamara equalised for Black-and-Red at the 34 minute mark, which brought Hernán Losada’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break
D.C. fought back, thanks to an early goal from Reyna in the 50th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Ábila just before the final whistle to make it 3-1.
For D.C., Skundrich, Brillant, Ábila, Mora and Felipe Martins, came on for Flores, Julian Gressel, Kamara, Paredes and Reyna. Union brought on Burke, Sullivan, Aaronson, Mbaizo and Fontana, to replace Przybyłko, Gazdag, Jamiro Monteiro, Powell and Bedoya.
