Columbus 3 – Orlando 2- Visitors get nothing as The Crew take points

Columbus Crew snatched all three points from Orlando City in a 3-2 victory on Thursday, at MAPFRE Stadium. As it stands, Columbus and Orlando currently occupy 10th and 5th spots in the table, with 41 points and 47 points respectively after 43 matches.

The Crew started strongly in the first half, with Miguel Berry giving Columbus the lead at the 20 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Etienne made it 2-0 in the 31st minute. The score at half time was 2-0.

Orlando started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, thanks to an early penalty goal from Daryl Dike in the 50th minute. However, Columbus increased their lead following a Zelarayán goal at the 61 minute mark to make it 3-1. In the end though, The Lions hit back though just before the final whistle, with a goal from Jansson and seeing the game end 3-2.

For Columbus, Fraser, Afful, Williams and Keita, came on for Hairston, Zelarayán, Wormgoor and Nagbe. Orlando brought on Michel, Akindele, Pato and Mas, to replace Nani, Mendez, Mueller and Smith.

There were bookings for Mensah and Valenzuela from Columbus, and Mendez and Smith, for Orlando.

Columbus will next travel to D.C. United, while Orlando will face Nashville SC at home.
