Columbus Crew’s 2-1 win over New York on Sunday, was hard fought at MAPFRE Stadium. As things stand, Columbus are currently 6th with 20 points from 17 matches, while NYC sit in 7th, with 17 points from 17.
Columbus started the game well, thanks to Nagbe giving The Crew the lead just before half-time
NYC started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from Medina in the 48th minute. Columbus managed to edge ahead with a goal from Zelarayán, 62 minutes in. The game ended with a 2-1 win for Columbus.
For Columbus, Hurtado, Wright-Phillips, Kitchen and Parente, came on for Matan, Miguel Berry, Hairston and Zelarayán. NYC brought on Amundsen, Ismael Tajouri, Morales and Rodríguez, to replace Thórarinsson, Medina, Acevedo and Parks.
There were bookings for Abdul-Salaam, Hairston, Pedro Santos, Wright-Phillips and Francis from Columbus. For NYC, Chanot, Medina, Acevedo and Thórarinsson saw yellow.
Columbus next face Nashville SC and NYC are at home to Montréal.
