Portland beat COLO 1-0 in the Major League Soccer Conference Semifinals meeting held this Thursday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and has qualified for the final. The next match will award the winner to the Grand Final, so everything is yet to be decided. What is clear is that Portland is one step away from being at least the Conference champion.

After an un-eventful first half, Portland continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Mabiala giving The Timbers the lead just before the final whistle and seeing the game end 1-0.

For COLO, Namli, Barrios, Jonathan Lewis and Galván, came on for Rubio, Badji, Bassett and Kaye. Portland brought on Moreno, Mora, Loria and Fochive for Blanco, Niezgoda, Chará and Paredes.

Portland now march on to the next stage, having dispatched their opponents in the last. This was a result that will give them renewed confidence going forward. The question is, will they be able to repeat the result again in the next big duel?
