Colorado 5-2 Los Angeles FC: Heavy loss for The Black and Gold at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park

Colorado Rapids defeat Los Angeles FC 5-2 on Monday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the Major League Soccer season, COLO and Los Angeles are 1st (61 points) and 9th (45 points) in the table respectively, after a total of 46 matches.

It was an impressive opening from COLO, with Jonathan Lewis opening the rout at the 18 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Warner in the 33rd minute. The score at half time was 2-0.

COLO started the second half with renewed vigour, with Jonathan Lewis finding the net again in the 53rd minute. However, Los Angeles weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Arango at the 55 minute mark. However, COLO increased their advantage 4-1 thanks to a goal from Bassett at the 63 minute mark. However, The Black and Gold weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Rodríguez in the 71st minute. In the end though, COLO secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Badji, 79 minutes in. The final result, COLO 5, Los Angeles 2.

For COLO, Barrios, Bassett, Lucas Esteves, Shinyashiki and Badji, came on for Jonathan Lewis, Price, Warner, Rubio and Kaye. Los Angeles brought on Vela and Blackmon, to replace Ibeagha and Mamadou Fall.

There were bookings for Price and Wilson from COLO. For Los Angeles, Edwards saw yellow.
