Cin 3 – Chicago 4: Visitors steal the show at Nippert Stadium

Cincinnati fell to a home defeat at the hands of Chicago Fire at Nippert Stadium on Thursday. As it stands, Cin are in 14th place on the table and has 20 points while Chicago sit in 12th with 31 points after 40 matches.

Chicago started the first half well, with Berić giving Chicago the lead at the 14 minute mark. Chicago looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a 2nd effort from Berić, 17 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However, Orange and Blue weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Acosta in the 28th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Vázquez at the 36 minute mark, finishing the first half 2-2.

Chicago continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Medrán, at 71 minutes. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Blackett in the 91st minute brought Cin level. Chicago in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Stojanović. The game ended 4-3.

For Cin, Gyau, Barreal, Mokotjo, Harris and Scott, came on for Bailey, Castillo, Medunjanin, Vázquez and Cruz. Chicago brought on Gutierrez, Sekulić, Giménez, Offor and Stojanović for Herbers, Espinoza, Kappelhof, Berić and Medrán.

There were bookings for Bailey, Gyau and Cameron from Cin, and Kappelhof, Navarro and Slonina, for Chicago.
