Chicago Fire’s 1-0 win over Columbus Crew on Monday, was hard fought at SeatGeek Stadium. Chicago were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Columbus were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Chicago Fire. After today’s result, Chicago are currently 9th with 20 points from 25 matches, while Columbus sit in 8th, with 24 points from 25.
Following a goalless first half, Chicago piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Stojanović at the 77 minute mark and seeing the game end 1-0.
For Chicago, Berić, Gutierrez, Espinoza, Omsberg and Ivanov, came on for Offor, Collier, Bornstein, Terán and Stojanović. Columbus brought on Molino, Matan and Wright-Phillips, to replace Etienne, Francis and Fraser.
The referee booked one player from Columbus, Etienne.
Columbus and Chicago will next play away to New York Red Bulls and Inter Miami respectively.
