Sassuolo strolled past Benevento with a 1-0 win on Monday at Stadio Ciro Vigorito. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Benevento arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Parma in their previous game. Sassuolo, on the other hand, were unable to beat Roma in a 2-2 draw. As things stand, Benevento are in 16th place, with 30 points from 30 matches, while Sassuolo sit in 8th, with 43 points from 30.
Sassuolo started the game well, with Federico Barba giving Sassuolo the lead just before half-time, seeing out the first half 0-1. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.
For Benevento, Gaetano Letizia, Gianluca Lapadula, Nicolas Viola, Gianluca Caprari and Iago Falque, came on for Perparim Hetemaj, Marco Sau, Pasquale Schiattarella, Alessandro Tuia and Adolfo Gaich. Sassuolo brought on Pedro Obiang, Lukas Haraslin, Jeremy Toljan, Rogerio and Vlad Chiriches, to replace Francesco Magnanelli, Maxime Lopez, Mert Muldur, Giorgos Kyriakopoulos and Filip Djuricic.
There were bookings for Alessandro Tuia, Pasquale Schiattarella and Gaetano Letizia from Benevento. For Sassuolo, Gian Marco Ferrari and Francesco Magnanelli saw yellow.
Benevento will next play Lazio away, with Sassuolo facing Fiorentina at home.
