Austin 3 – San Jose 4: Quakes beat Los Verdes at Q2 Stadium

Austin were defeated at home by San Jose at Q2 Stadium on Sunday. After today’s result, Austin and San Jose currently occupy 13th and 9th spots in the table, with 19 points and 30 points respectively after 34 matches.

Austin started strongly in the first half, thanks to Driussi finding the net after only 7 minutes. However, their lead didn’t last for long, López producing an equaliser in the 18th minute, bringing Quakes level. However, each side looked hungry to win and Los Verdes then found the back of the net in the 36th minute thanks to Gallagher, taking the score to 2-1. However they weren’t finished yet and Ring made it 3-1 just before half-time. The first half ended 3-1.

San Jose started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from Espinoza in the 49th minute. San Jose looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Chofis Lopez at the 57 minute mark to establish a 3-3. However they weren’t finished yet and Chofis Lopez made it 4-3, 63 minutes in to make it 4-3.

For Austin, Sebastian Berhalter, Domínguez, Redes, Fagundez and Gaines, came on for Pereira, Djitte, Gallagher, Pochettino and Cascante. San Jose brought on Cowell, Marie, Jack Skahan, Rios and Alanís, to replace Fierro, Thompson, Espinoza, Chofis Lopez and Nathan Pelae.

The referee booked nine players. Pereira, Ring, Stuver and Cascante from Austin, who saw yellow cards and Ring (2 yellow cards), sent off with a red, as well as for San Jose Espinoza, Marie, Remedi and Rios received yellows.

Austin next face LA Galaxy and San Jose are at home to Los Angeles FC.
