Austin 3 – Portland 1- Los Verdes jubilant after home win against The Timbers

On Sunday, Portland Timbers suffer an away defeat to Austin at Q2 Stadium. As the table looks today, Austin are in 12th place, with 19 points from 28 matches, while Portland sit in 9th, with 24 points from 28.

Austin found the net first, with Domínguez giving Austin the lead at the 10 minute mark. The momentum was now with Los Verdes, who then scored again through a goal from Fagundez, at 14 minutes to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Driussi made it 3-0 at the 29 minute mark, finalising the first half 3-0.

Portland started the second half with renewed vigour, thanks to Asprilla finding the net, at 55 minutes. The final result, Austin 3, Portland 1.

For Austin, Romaña, Jiménez, Pochettino, Sebastian Berhalter and Stroud, came on for Driussi, Kolmanic, Fagundez, Ring and Domínguez. Portland replaced Mabiala, Blanco, Valeri, Mcgraw and Niezgoda with Van Rankin, Williamson, Chará, Bonilla and Asprilla.

There were bookings for Pochettino from Austin. For Portland, Župarić saw yellow.
