Atlanta 3 – D.C. 2: Visitors to Mercedes-Benz Stadium leave with nothing

Atlanta United eased past D.C. United in a 3-2 victory on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Following today’s result, Atlanta are in 4th place, with 36 points from 33 matches, while D.C. sit in 6th, with 34 points from 33.

Atlanta started the first half well, thanks to Barco finding the net, at 18 minutes, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Atlanta continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Josef Martinez finding the net, at 64 minutes. However, Black-and-Red weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Felipe Martins in the 75th minute. However, Atlanta increased their advantage 3-1 thanks to a goal from George Bello at the 87 minute mark. D.C. in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Flores and seeing the game end 3-2.

For Atlanta, Luiz Araujo, Adams and Alex De John, came on for Campbell, Rossetto and Moreno. D.C. replaced Felipe Martins, Flores, Griffin Yow and Birnbaum with Moreno, Skundrich, Arriola and Brillant.

There were bookings for Franco and Luiz Araujo from Atlanta, and Brillant, Moreno, Paredes and Alfaro, for D.C.
