Columbus 2 – Chicago 0: Home win for The Crew at MAPFRE Stadium

Columbus Crew defeat Chicago Fire 2-0 on Sunday at MAPFRE Stadium. Following today’s result, Columbus are in 4th place on the table and has 14 points while Chicago sit in 13th with 4 points after 11 matches.

It was an impressive opening from The Crew, with Zardes giving Columbus the lead at the 17 minute mark. Columbus then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a second effort from Zardes in the 34th minute, finishing the first half 2-0. The second part ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Columbus, Francis, Molino and Abdul-Salaam, came on for Matan, Etienne and Pedro Santos. Chicago brought on Stojanović, Berić, Espinoza and Collier, to replace Gutierrez, Offor, Sekulić and Medrán.

There were bookings for Etienne and Williams from Columbus. For Chicago, Herbers and Medrán saw yellow.

Columbus will play their next fixture away against Philadelphia Union, while Chicago will face Cincinnati at home.
