Liverpool strolled past Manchester United with a 4-2 win on Thursday at Old Trafford. Man U were hoping to get something from this game after losing 2-1 to Leicester City in their last match. Liverpool, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-0 victory against Southampton. Following today’s result, Man U are in 2nd place on the table and has 70 points while Liverpool sit in 5th with 60 points after 34 matches.

The Red Devils started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Nathaniel Phillips giving Man U the lead in the 10th minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Diogo Jota, 34 minutes in brought Liverpool level. The momentum was now with The Reds, who then scored again through a goal from Roberto Firmino in the 45th minute to establish a 2-1. Liverpool then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a 2nd effort from Roberto Firmino just before half-time to see out the first half 1-3.

Man U took the initiative in the second half, thanks to a goal from Marcus Rashford at the 68 minute mark. The Reds in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Mohamed Salah and seeing the game end 4-2.

For Man U, Mason Greenwood and Nemanja Matic, came on for Fred and Eric Bailly. Liverpool brought on Curtis Jones, Sadio Mane and Neco Williams, to replace Georginio Wijnaldum, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah.

The referee booked Eric Bailly, Scott McTominay and Edinson Cavani for Man U.

Man U will next play Fulham at home, with Liverpool facing West Bromwich Albion away.
