Manchester City squeeze past Newcastle United in 2-0 win at Etihad Stadium

On Saturday, Newcastle suffer an away defeat to City at Etihad Stadium. Manchester City were looking to continue their run after winning last match. Newcastle United, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Fulham. Following today’s result, Manchester City are in 5th place, with 26 points from 15 matches, while Newcastle United sit in 12th, with 18 points from 15.

Manchester City started strongly in the first half, beginning with Ilkay Gundogan opening the scoring in the 14th minute and managed to see out the first half 1-0.

The second half started all good for Manchester City, thanks to a goal from Ferran Torres in minute 55, which sealed the victory for Manchester City.

Manchester City brought on Fernandinho, Sergio Aguero and Phil Foden for Rodri, Ferran Torres and Ilkay Gundogan. Newcastle United brought on Jamal Lewis, Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle, to replace Matt Ritchie, Joelinton and Miguel Almiron.

There were bookings for Rodri and Joao Cancelo from City and Matt Ritchie and Fabian Schar for Newcastle.

Manchester City will next travel to Everton, while Newcastle United will face Liverpool at home.
