Man City beat The Hammers with a thumping 2-1 victory on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Manchester City were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches against Arsenal away and Everton away, by 1-0 and 3-1 respectively. West Ham were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United. As it stands, Manchester City and West Ham currently occupy 1st and 4th spots in the league, with 62 points and 45 points respectively after 26 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Manchester City, following Ruben Dias opening the scoring, 30 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, as an equalizer from a Michail Antonio just before half-time brought West Ham level, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

Manchester City continued to apply pressure the second half, with John Stones opening the scoring, 68 minutes in, which sealed the victory for Manchester City.

For Manchester City Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden and Rodri came on for Sergio Aguero, Ferran Torres and Ilkay Gundogan, while The Hammers replaced Michail Antonio and Ben Johnson for Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma.

There were bookings for Fernandinho from Man City and Ben Johnson for The Hammers.

West Ham and Manchester City will next play at home to Leeds United and Manchester United respectively.
