ASSE 1 – Lille 1- Victory beyond reach for Saints at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard

ASSE were held to 1-1 draw by Lille down on Saturday at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard. ASSE arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 2-2 draw with RC Lens in their previous game while Lille were beaten 4-0 in the previous match against Nice. As it stands, ASSE and Lille sit 9th, (3 points) and 13th, (2 points), in the league respectively, after 3 matches.

Les Dogues started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to Burak Yilmaz giving Lille the lead, 38 minutes in, finishing the first half 0-1.

Saints took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Sadio Sow just before the final whistle. The game ended wih a 1-1 draw.

For ASSE, Arnaud Nordin, Mathys Saban, Adil Aouchiche, Lucas Gourna-Douath and Jean-Philippe Krasso, came on for Zaydou Youssouf, Denis Bouanga, Romain Hamouma, Yvan Neyou and Wahbi Khazri. Lille brought on Jonathan Ikone, Yusuf Yazici and Angel Gomes for Jonathan Bamba, Tim Weah and Jonathan David.

There were bookings for Wahbi Khazri from ASSE, and Tiago Djalo, Burak Yilmaz and Xeka, for Lille.

ASSE will next travel to Olympique de Marseille, while Lille will face Montpellier at home.
