Rennes 0 – Reims 2: The Red and Whites get valuable away win at the Roazhon Park

Reims snatched all three points from Rennes in a 2-0 victory on Sunday, at the Roazhon Park. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Rennes were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 2-0 to Angers SCO. Reims were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Paris Saint-Germain. As the table looks today, Rennes and Reims are 11th, (5 points) and 9th, (6 points), in the table respectively, after 5 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Reims, with Hugo Ekitike finding the net at the 26 minute mark, seeing out the first half 0-1.

The Red and Whites continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from N Dri Philippe Koffi in the 67th minute, sealing a 2-0 victory for the home side.

For Rennes, Lesley Ugochukwu, Lorenz Assignon, Kamal-Deen Sulemana, Mathys Tel and Matthis Abline, came on for Martin Terrier, Adrien Truffert, Baptiste Santamaria, Benjamin Bourigeaud and Sehrou Guirassy. Reims replaced N Dri Philippe Koffi, Valon Berisha and Nathanael Mbuku with Hugo Ekitike, Mitchell Van Bergen and Ilan Kebbal.

There were bookings for Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, and Marshall Munetsi and Andrew Gravillon, for Reims.

Rennes will play away against Olympique de Marseille, while Reims will face FC Lorient at home.
