Reims enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Saint-Étienne at the Stade Auguste Delaune on Saturday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Reims were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Angers SCO while ASSE lost 5-0 in the last match they played against Rennes. As the table looks today, Reims and ASSE currently occupy 14th and 20th spots in the table, with 22 points and 12 points respectively after 18 matches.

Reims dominated the first half, thanks to a goal from El Bilal Toure at the 23 minute mark, seeing out the first half 1-0.

The Red and Whites continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Nathanael Mbuku finding the net just before the final whistle. The game ended 2-0.

For Reims, Moreto Cassama, Anastasios Donis, Bradley Locko, Nathanael Mbuku and Sambou Sissoko, came on for Dion Lopy, El Bilal Toure, Ghislain Konan, Ilan Kebbal and Azor Matusiwa. ASSE replaced Stefan Bajic, Yvann Macon, Yvan Neyou, Yanis Lhery and Jean-Philippe Krasso with Etienne Green, Gabriel Silva, Zaydou Youssouf, Arnaud Nordin and Miguel Trauco.

The referee booked Ghislain Konan and Wout Faes from Reims. ASSE had the worst of it though, with Yvann Macon and Wahbi Khazri seeing yellow, and Denis Bouanga then sent off with a red.

Reims will next play Olympique de Marseille away, with ASSE facing Nantes at home.
