Lens enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Rennes at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Saturday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Lens arrived at the game looking pick up points after losing 2-1 to Nice in their previous fixture. Rennes, on the other hand, lost 2-1 in the last match they played against AS Mónaco. As the table looks today, Lens are in 6th place, with 30 points from 20 matches, while Rennes sit in 4th, with 31 points from 20.
After a goalless first half, Lens applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Wesley Said giving Blood and Gold the lead just before the final whistle. The game ended with a 1-0 home victory.
For Lens, Patrick Berg, Corentin Jean, Wesley Said and Florian Sotoca, came on for David Pereira Da Costa, Przemyslaw Frankowski, Gael Kakuta and Seko Fofana. Rennes brought on Flavien Tait, Jeremy Doku, Loum Tchaouna and Sehrou Guirassy, to replace Lovro Majer, Martin Terrier, Benjamin Bourigeaud and Jonas Martin.
There were bookings for Facundo Medina from Lens. For Rennes, Benjamin Bourigeaud saw yellow.
Lens will next play Saint-Étienne away, with Rennes facing Bordeaux at home.
