Lens 2 – Reims 0- The Red and Whites unable to avoid defeat at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis

RC Lens eased past Reims in a 2-0 victory on Friday at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Lens were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match whilst Reims were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-1 win against Nantes in their last match. As things stand, Lens are in 2nd place on the table and has 18 points while Reims sit in 12th with 10 points after 9 matches.

Lens started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Arnaud Kalimuendo finding the net just before half-time

Blood and Gold fought back, thanks to Arnaud Kalimuendo finding the net again, 52 minutes in, leaving the final score at 2-0.

For Lens, Ignatius Kpene Ganago, Wesley Said, Massadio Haidara, Deiver Machado and Yannick Cahuzac, came on for Arnaud Kalimuendo, Gael Kakuta, Facundo Medina, Przemyslaw Frankowski and Cheick Oumar Doucoure. Reims brought on El Bilal Toure, Fode Doucoure, Nathanael Mbuku and Moreto Cassama, to replace Azor Matusiwa, Mitchell Van Bergen, Ilan Kebbal and Alexis Flips.

The referee booked Facundo Medina, Kevin Danso and Gael Kakuta from Lens. Reims had the worst of it though, with Yunis Abdelhamid seeing yellow, and Hugo Ekitike then sent off with a red.

Reims and Lens will next play away to Brest and Montpellier respectively.
