PSG succumb to Lorient with 3-2 defeat at the Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir

Lorient’s 3-2 win over PSG on Sunday, was hard fought at the Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir. Lorient were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 2-1 to FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Paris Saint-Germain were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Montpellier HSC and Angers SCO. As it stands, Lorient and Paris Saint-Germain are 18th, (18 points) and 2nd, (45 points), in the league respectively, after 22 matches.

The first half of the game started favourably for Lorient, with a goal from Laurent Abergel, 36 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, as an equalizer from a Neymar just before half-time brought Paris Saint-Germain level, finalising the first half with a 1-1.

Paris Saint-Germain took the initiative in the second half, beginning with a new goal from Neymar, scoring his second goal in the 58th minute. However, their lead didn’t last for long, as an equalizer from a goal from Yoane Wissa, 80 minutes in brought Lorient level. Later, Lorient took the lead with a goal form a goal from Terem Moffi in the 90th minute just before the final whistle, which sealed the victory for Lorient.

For Lorient Trevoh Chalobah, Jonathan Delaplace, Terem Moffi, Yoane Wissa and Pierre-Yves Hamel came on for Thomas Monconduit, Houboulang Mendes, Adrian Grbic, Armand Lauriente and Enzo Le Fee, and PSG brought on Pablo Sarabia and Idrissa Gueye for Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes.

There were bookings for Enzo Le Fee, Thomas Monconduit, Fabien Lemoine and Laurent Abergel from Lorient and Danilo Pereira and Leandro Paredes for PSG.

Lorient will next travel to Stade Rennais, while Paris Saint-Germain will face Nîmes Olympique at home.
