PSG 2 – Montpellier 0: Les Parisiens enjoy home win and all 3 points

Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 win over Montpellier on Saturday, was hard fought at the Parc des Princes. PSG were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches against FC Metz away and Lyon at home, by 2-1 and 2-1 respectively. Montpellier, on the other hand, were unable to beat Bordeaux in a 3-3 draw. After today’s result, PSG and Montpellier sit 1st, (24 points) and 11th, (9 points), in the league respectively, after 8 matches.

Les Parisiens started the first half well, thanks to Idrissa Gueye finding the net, 14 minutes in, seeing out the first half 1-0.

PSG continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Julian Draxler just before the final whistle. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-0 to PSG.

For PSG, Georginio Wijnaldum, Mauro Icardi, Julian Draxler and Rafinha, came on for Idrissa Gueye, Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria and Ander Herrera. Montpellier replaced Nicolas Cozza, Leo Leroy, Beni Makouana, Sepe Elye Wahi and Nicholas Gioacchini with Thuler, Jordan Ferri, Florent Mollet, Stephy Mavididi and Joris Chotard.

The referee booked Beni Makouana for Montpellier.

PSG will next travel to Rennes, while Montpellier will face RC Strasburg at home.
