Montpellier 0 – Lyon 1- Visitors deliver victory against La Paillade

Montpellier were defeated at home by Lyon at the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Montpellier were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Rennes whilst Lyon lost 4-1 in the last match they played against Rennes. As it stands, Montpellier and Lyon are 11th, (19 points) and 7th, (22 points), in the table respectively, after 15 matches.

Lyon scored first, thanks to a goal from Lucas Paqueta, at 17 minutes, finalising the first half 0-1. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Montpellier, Sepe Elye Wahi, Beni Makouana, Leo Leroy and Junior Sambia, came on for Nicholas Gioacchini, Valere Germain, Joris Chotard and Arnaud Souquet. Lyon brought on Damien Da Silva, Moussa Dembele, Thiago Mendes and Rayan Cherki for Jerome Boateng, Islam Slimani, Bruno Guimaraes and Lucas Paqueta.

There were bookings for Jordan Ferri from Montpellier, and Islam Slimani, Maxence Caqueret, Jerome Boateng and Emerson, for Lyon.

Montpellier will next play FC Metz away, with Lyon facing Reims at home.
