Montpellier eased past FC Lorient in a 3-1 victory on Sunday at the Stade de la Mosson. Montpellier wanted to continue adding points following a disappointing 3-3 draw with Reims in their previous game. Lorient were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against AS Mónaco in their last match. After today’s result, both teams are on 4 points and sit in 7th and 9th places respectively after 3 matches.
Lorient started the game well, thanks to Dimitry Bertaud giving The Merlucciidaes the lead at the 21 minute mark, seeing out the first half 0-1.
Montpellier started the second half with an intensified spirit, with an early goal from Teji Savanier in the 50th minute. La Paillade looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Stephy Mavididi, 58 minutes in to establish a 2-1. However they weren’t finished yet and Andy Delort made it 3-1, 83 minutes in with a final score of 3-1.
For Montpellier, Mihailo Ristic, Arnaud Souquet, Sepe Elye Wahi and Florent Mollet, came on for Nicolas Cozza, Junior Sambia, Stephy Mavididi and Andy Delort. Lorient brought on Thomas Monconduit, Quentin Boisgard, Adrian Grbic, Pierre-Yves Hamel and Jerome Hergault, to replace Terem Moffi, Enzo Le Fee, Fabien Lemoine, Thomas Fontaine and Igor Silva.
