Marseille’s 3-2 win over Nice on Wednesday, was hard fought at the Orange Velodrome. Marseille arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Bordeaux in their previous game. Nice were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against PSG. As it stands, Marseille are in 6th place, with 37 points from 11 matches, while Nice sit in 14th, with 29 points from 11.

Marseille started well as, beginning with a goal from Alvaro Gonzalez in the 14th minute. Later, Marseille scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Saif-Eddine Khaoui to make it 2-0. Nice pull-back thanks to a goal from Amine Gouiri in the 47th minute just before half-time to establish the 2-1, thereby seeing the first half to a 2-1.

Marseille staged a comeback in the second half, following Saif-Eddine Khaoui opening the scoring, 53 minutes in. However, Nice just before the final whistle hit back thanks to a Malik Sellouki goal. The game ended with a 3-2 victory for Marseille.

For Marseille, Valere Germain, Florian Thauvin, Valentin Rongier and Jordan Amavi came on for Alexis Trouillet, Pierre Lees-Melou, Rony Lopes and Hicham Boudaoui, while Nice brought on Morgan Schneiderlin, Dan Ndoye, Malik Sellouki and Kephren Thuram Ulien to replace Alexis Trouillet, Pierre Lees-Melou, Rony Lopes and Hicham Boudaoui.

There were bookings for Boubacar Kamara and Hiroki Sakai from Marseille and Pierre Lees-Melou for Nice.

Marseille will play their next fixture away against Nantes, while Nice will face Metz at home.
