Lyon 1 – Reims 2- The Red and Whites jubilant after away win against The Kids

Reims strolled past Lyon with a 2-1 win on Wednesday at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais. Both Lyon and Reims arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Lyon were looking to pick up points, following a 1-0 victory against Montpellier. Reims, on the other hand, were coming from a 1-0 win against Clermont Foot. At the moment, Lyon are in 10th place on the table and has 22 points while Reims sit in 14th with 19 points after 16 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Reims continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Wout Faes giving The Red and Whites the lead in the 56th minute. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Karl Toko Ekambi managed to equalize and take the sides off, 66 minutes in at 1-1. In the end though, Reims just before the final whistle took the victory via a Hugo Ekitike goal. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

For Lyon, Moussa Dembele, Thiago Mendes and Rayan Cherki, came on for Islam Slimani, Maxence Caqueret and Karl Toko Ekambi. Reims brought on Marshall Munetsi, Bradley Locko, Hugo Ekitike, Alexis Flips and Sambou Sissoko, to replace Moreto Cassama, Ghislain Konan, El Bilal Toure, Valon Berisha and Thomas Foket.

There were bookings for Lucas Paqueta, Jason Denayer and Moussa Dembele from Lyon. For Reims, Marshall Munetsi and Yunis Abdelhamid saw yellow.

Lyon will play away against Bordeaux, while Reims will face Angers SCO at home.
