Lyon 3 – RCSA 1: The Kids prevail in home win against The Racers

Lyon enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against RC Strasburg at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Lyon were looking to pick up points after winning last match. RCSA had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-1 victory against Brest. As things stand, Lyon and RCSA are 7th, (8 points) and 15th, (4 points), in the table respectively, after 5 matches.

Lyon started strongly in the first half, thanks to Moussa Dembele giving The Kids the lead, 8 minutes in to see out the first half 1-0.

Lyon continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Jason Denayer at the 64 minute mark. Lyon looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Lucas Paqueta in the 87th minute to establish a 3-0. In the end though, RCSA just before the final whistle hit back though via a Habib Diallo goal, leaving the final score at 3-1.

For Lyon, Jerome Boateng, Maxence Caqueret, Lucas Paqueta, Rayan Cherki and Habib Keita, came on for Sinaly Diomande, Thiago Mendes, Xherdan Shaqiri, Karl Toko Ekambi and Bruno Guimaraes. RCSA brought on Dimitri Lienard, Habib Diallo, Jean-Eudes Aholou, Gerzino Nyamsi and Majeed Waris, to replace Anthony Caci, Frederic Guilbert, Sanjin Prcic, Lucas Perrin and Kevin Gameiro.

There were bookings for Sinaly Diomande and Jerome Boateng from Lyon, and Alexander Djiku, for RCSA.

Lyon will next play Paris Saint-Germain away, with RCSA facing FC Metz at home.
