Lille 2 – Reims 1: Les Dogues deliver decisive win at the Stade Pierre Mauroy

Lille’s 2-1 win over Reims on Wednesday, was hard fought at the Stade Pierre Mauroy. Lille arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to RC Lens. Reims, on the other hand, were unable to beat FC Lorient in a 0-0 draw. After today’s result, Lille are in 13th place, with 8 points from 7 matches, while Reims sit in 15th, with 7 points from 7.

It was an impressive opening from Lille, with Jonathan David finding the net at the 31 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Benjamin Andre just before half-time and seeing the first half out 2-0.

The Red and Whites took the initiative in the second half, thanks to a goal from Alexis Flips at the 74 minute mark and seeing the game end 2-1.

For Lille, Angel Gomes, Domagoj Bradaric, Yusuf Yazici and Cheikh Niasse, came on for Tim Weah, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Jonathan Ikone and Amadou Mvom Onana. Reims brought on Hugo Ekitike, Ilan Kebbal, Alexis Flips, N’Dri Philippe Koffi and Anastasios Donis, to replace Valon Berisha, Thomas Foket, Hugo Ekitike, Nathanael Mbuku and Mitchell Van Bergen.

There were bookings for Botman Sven and Yusuf Yazici from Lille. For Reims, Andrew Gravillon saw yellow.

Lille will play away against RC Strasburg, while Reims will face Nantes at home.
