Paris Saint-Germain beat FC Metz with a thumping 2-1 victory on Wednesday at the Stade Saint Symphorien. Metz arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to RC Strasburg. PSG were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Lyon and Clermont Foot. After today’s result, Metz are in 20th place, with 3 points from 7 matches, while PSG sit in 1st, with 21 points from 7.

PSG started well, with an early goal from Achraf Hakimi in the 5th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Kiki equalised for The Maroons, 39 minutes in, finishing the first half 1-1.

Les Parisiens continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Achraf Hakimi finding the net again just before the final whistle, which sealed the victory for the visitors.

For Metz, Farid Boulaya, Nicolas De Preville, Sikou Niakate and Boubacar Traore, came on for Lamine Gueye, Ibrahima Niane, Pape Ndiaga Yade and Vincent Pajot. PSG replaced Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera and Julian Draxler with Georginio Wijnaldum, Rafinha and Nuno Mendes.

The referee booked Pape Ndiaga Yade, Habib Maiga, Dylan Bronn, Fabien Centtonze and Alexandre Oukidja from Metz and Dylan Bronn (2 yellow cards) went off with a red card, while PSG’s Nuno Mendes and Neymar also received a yellow.

Metz will next play Brest away, with PSG facing Montpellier at home.
