Lorient 2 – Lille 1- Visitors to the Stade Yves Allainmat leave with nothing

FC Lorient strolled past Lille with a 2-1 win on Friday at the Stade Yves Allainmat. Lorient arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 2-2 draw against RC Lens whilst Lille had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-1 victory against Montpellier. As it stands, Lorient are in 4th place on the table and has 8 points while Lille sit in 10th with 5 points after 5 matches.

Lorient started strongly in the first half, with Armand Lauriente finding the net after only 7 minutes. However, their lead was short lived, as Burak Yilmaz equalised for Les Dogues, 25 minutes in and seeing the first half out 1-1.

The Merlucciidaes continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Terem Moffi finding the net just before the final whistle. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-1 to Lorient.

For Lorient, Quentin Boisgard, Adrian Grbic, Theo Le Bris and Stephane Diarra, came on for Thomas Monconduit, Armand Lauriente, Fabien Lemoine and Terem Moffi. Lille brought on Gabriel Gudmundsson, Jonathan David and Isaac Lihadji, to replace Angel Gomes, Yusuf Yazici and Jonathan Ikone.

There were bookings for Laurent Abergel and Quentin Boisgard from Lorient. For Lille, Angel Gomes and Xeka saw yellow.

Next up, Lorient are away to Reims, whilst Lille will travel to face RC Lens.
