AS Mónaco strolled past Clermont Foot with a 3-1 win on Sunday at Stade Gabriel Montpied. Cleermont were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last game 6-0 to Rennes. Monaco, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-1 victory against Saint-Étienne. As the table looks today, Cleermont and Monaco sit 15th, (9 points) and 8th, (11 points), in the league respectively, after 8 matches.

Cleermont started the game well, thanks to a goal from Mohamed Bayo early in the first half. However, their lead was short lived, as Wissam Ben Yedder equalised for Monaco at the 26 minute mark, which brought Niko Kovac’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break

The Monégasques started the second half with an intensified spirit, with an early goal from Kevin Volland in the 48th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Sofiane Diop just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-1.

For Cleermont, Jim Allevinah, Saif-Eddine Khaoui, Jonathan Iglesias and Pierre-Yves Hamel, came on for Elbasan Rashani, Jason Berthomier, Salis Abdul Samed and Jodel Dossou. Monaco replaced Youssouf Fofana, Aleksandr Golovin, Gelson Martins, Wissam Ben Yedder and Kevin Volland for Eliot Matazo, Sofiane Diop, Myron Boadu, Benoit Badiashile and Ruben Aguilar.

There were bookings for Salis Abdul Samed and Johan Gastien from Cleermont, and Strahinja Pavlovic, Aurelien Tchouameni, Kevin Volland and Sofiane Diop, for Monaco.

Cleermont will next travel to FC Lorient, while Monaco will face Bordeaux at home.
