Montpellier on a 4-0 win against Brest on Saturday at the Stade Francis-Le Blé. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Brest were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches against Olympique de Marseille away and Saint-Étienne at home, by 2-1 and 1-0 respectively whilst Montpellier were coming from consecutive wins against Clermont Foot and FC Metz. After today’s result, Brest and Montpellier are 12th, (24 points) and 4th, (28 points), in the table respectively, after 18 matches.
La Paillade started the first half well, with Sepe Elye Wahi opening the rout at the 45 minute mark. Montpellier then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Stephy Mavididi just before half-time, to take a 0-2 lead into half time.
Montpellier continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Junior Sambia in the 60th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Valere Germain just before the final whistle to make it 4-0.
For Brest, Irvin Cardona, Hugo Magnetti, Rafiki Said, Paul Lasne and Youssouph Badji, came on for Jeremy Le Douaron, Lucien Agoume, Steve Mounie, Haris Belkebla and Romain Faivre. Montpellier replaced Valere Germain, Ambroise Oyongo, Nicholas Gioacchini, Sacha Delaye, Thuler and Leo Leroy with Sepe Elye Wahi, Mihailo Ristic, Arnaud Souquet, Jordan Ferri, Nicolas Cozza and Stephy Mavididi.
There were bookings for Christophe Herelle and Hugo Magnetti from Brest, and Jordan Ferri, for Montpellier.
Brest will play away against Troyes, while Montpellier will face Angers SCO at home.
