Bordeaux 2 – Lens 3- Blood and Gold beat Les Girondins at the Matmut Atlantique Stadiums

Bordeaux fell to a home defeat at the hands of RC Lens at the Matmut Atlantique Stadiums on Sunday. Bordeaux were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Nice. Lens had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with FC Lorient. Following today’s result, Bordeaux and Lens currently occupy 20th and 8th spots in the league, with 2 points and 6 points respectively after 5 matches.

Lens started strongly in the first half, with Gael Kakuta giving Lens the lead in the 39th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Facundo Medina just before half-time. The score at half time was 0-2.

Les Girondins took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Ricardo Mangas at the 60 minute mark. The momentum was now with Bordeaux, who then scored again through a goal from Jean Onana at the 88 minute mark to establish a 2-2. Blood and Gold managed to edge ahead with a penalty goal from Florian Sotoca just before the final whistle. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 3-2 to Lens.

For Bordeaux, Javairo Dilrosun, Stian Gregersen, Yacine Adli, Jimmy Briand and Mehdi Zerkane, came on for Sekou Mara, Remi Oudin, Fransergio, Hwang Ui-Jo and Timothee Pembele. Lens replaced Wesley Said, David Pereira Da Costa, Deiver Machado and Ismael Boura with Arnaud Kalimuendo, Gael Kakuta, Jonathan Clauss and Przemyslaw Frankowski.

There were bookings for Jean Onana, Otavio, Laurent Koscielny and Stian Gregersen from Bordeaux. For Lens, Jonathan Gradit and Florian Sotoca saw yellow.

Bordeaux will play away against Saint-Étienne, while Lens will face Lille at home.
