Monaco enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Rennes at the Stade Louis II on Wednesday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Monaco were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last game 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain. Rennes had lost their previous match against Nice. Following today’s result, Monaco and Rennes currently occupy 6th and 4th spots in the league, with 29 points and 31 points respectively after 19 matches.
It was an impressive opening from The Rennais, thanks to Martin Terrier finding the net in the 16th minute. However, their lead was short lived, as Wissam Ben Yedder equalised for The Monégasques in the 35th minute, which saw the first half end 1-1.
Monaco rallied after this and were rewarded, with a goal from Kevin Volland, 72 minutes in. The final result, Monaco 2, Rennes 1.
