AS Monaco squeeze past FC Nantes in 2-1 victory at the Stade de la Beaujoire

Nantes on Sunday lost to Monaco on a home defeat at the Stade de la Beaujoire. FC Nantes were looking to improve their position in the table, following a previous defeat to FC Metz whilst AS Monaco were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Olympique de Marseille and Montpellier HSC. As the table looks today, FC Nantes and AS Monaco currently occupy 17th and 4th spots in the table, with 18 points and 42 points respectively after 22 matches.

It was an impressive opening from AS Monaco, beginning with a goal from Guillermo Maripan just before half-time, thereby seeing the first half to a 1-0.

AS Monaco continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, following Kevin Volland opening the scoring in the 60th minute. FC Nantes pull-back thanks to a goal from Renaud Emond, 83 minutes in to establish the 2-1. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for AS Monaco.

For Nantes, Dennis Appiah, Ludovic Blas, Renaud Emond, Pedro Chirivella and Bridge Ndilu came on for Wissam Ben Yedder, Krepin Diatta, Youssouf Fofana, Kevin Volland and Sofiane Diop, while Monaco brought on Stevan Jovetic, Aleksandr Golovin, Florentino Luis, Pietro Pellegri and Fode Toure to replace Wissam Ben Yedder, Krepin Diatta, Youssouf Fofana, Kevin Volland and Sofiane Diop.

The referee booked seven players. Dennis Appiah, Nicolas Pallois and Renaud Emond from Nantes saw yellow cards and Nicolas Pallois (2 yellow cards) sent off with a red, as well as for AS Monaco Krepin Diatta, Youssouf Fofana and Florentino Luis saw yellows.

FC Nantes will next travel to AS Saint-Étienne, while AS Monaco will face OGC Nice at home.
