Pachuca beat Toluca with a thumping 2-0 victory on Sunday at Estadio Nemesio Diez. Toluca arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a scoreless draw against San Luís in their previous match. Pachuca were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against Tijuana. After today’s result, Toluca and Pachuca sit 5th, (18 points) and 14th, (10 points), in the league respectively, after 11 matches.
After an un-eventful first half, Pachuca continued to apply pressure in the second half and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Roberto de la Rosa in the 83rd minute. Pachuca then netted again and increased their advantage thanks to a penalty goal from Luis Chavez just before the final whistle to make it 2-0.
For Toluca, Michael Estrada, Joao Plata, Raul Lopez and Haret Ortega, came on for Enrique Triverio, Kevin Castaneda, Rodrigo Salinas Dorantes and Paolo Yrizar. Pachuca brought on Harold Mosquera, Antonio Figueroa, Roberto de la Rosa and Mauro Quiroga, to replace Emmanuel Garcia, Felipe Pardo, Roberto Nurse and Victor Sosa.
The referee booked six players. Miguel Barbieri, Diego Rigonato and Jorge Torres from Toluca, who saw yellow cards and Miguel Barbieri (2 yellow cards), sent off with a red, as well as for Pachuca Emmanuel Garcia and Felipe Pardo also seeing yellows.
