Monterrey opens Liga MX de Apertura season with 1-1 draw against Puebla. Today’s result, leave both teams on 1 point and sitting in 6th and 5th positions respectively, after their first match.

After an un-eventful first half, Rayados took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Maximiliano Meza in the 88th minute. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as Christian Tabo equalised for Puebla just before the final whistle and seeing the game end 1-1.

For Monterrey, Jose Alvarado, Neder Hernandez, Edson Gutierrez and Angel Zapata, came on for Celso Ortiz, Vincent Janssen, Sergio Villarreal and Arturo Gonzalez. Puebla brought on Diego De Buen, Lucas Maia, Guillermo Martinez, Daniel Alvarez and Gustavo Ferrareis, to replace Daniel Aguilar, Pablo Parra, Fernando Aristeguieta, Maximiliano Araujo and George Corral.

The referee booked from Monterrey Edson Gutierrez and Sebastian Vegas and from Puebla Maximiliano Araujo. Both teams also had a sending off, with Edson Gutierrez (2 yellow cards) for Monterrey and Juan Pablo Segovia and Christian Tabo for Puebla.

In the second round of action in the Liga MX de Apertura, both Puebla and Monterrey will play at home against Guadalajara and Pumas respectively.
