Toluca started the first half well, thanks to Haret Ortega giving Los Diablos Rojos the lead after only 6 minutes. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Martin Luis Galvan equalised for Los Bravos at the 34 minute mark and seeing the first half out 1-1.
Toluca continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Rubens Sambueza in the 64th minute. Los Diablos Rojos then scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Alexis Canelo just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-1.
