Chivas Guadalajara fell to a home defeat at the hands of América at Estadio Akron on Monday. Chivas Guadalajara wanted to continue adding points after a 1-1 draw against Mazatlán whilst América were coming from consecutive wins against León and Tijuana. As things stand, Chivas Guadalajara are currently 13th with 12 points from 11 matches, while América sit in 2nd, with 25 points from 11.
América started the game well, with Henry Martin opening the rout just before half-time, to take a 0-1 lead into half time.
América continued to apply pressure in the second half and were rewarded, with a new goal from Henry Martinfound the net once more at the 75 minute mark. América then scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Sebastian Cordova in the 79th minute to make it 3-0.
For Chivas Guadalajara, Angel Zaldivar, Cristian Calderon, Jesus Sanchez, Miguel Ponce and Sergio Flores, came on for Mauro Lainez, Henry Martin, Jorge Sanchez, Sebastian Cordova and Pedro Aquino. América replaced Leonardo Suarez, Federico Vinas, Bryan Colula, Roger Martinez and Santiago Naveda with Mauro Lainez, Henry Martin, Jorge Sanchez, Sebastian Cordova and Pedro Aquino.
The referee booked Antonio Briseno from Chivas Guadalajara and Miguel Ponce went off with a red card, while América’s Jorge Sanchez and Sebastian Cordova also received a yellow.
Next up, Chivas Guadalajara are away to Monterrey, whilst América will travel to face Mazatlán.
