Leeds United travel to secure all 3 points in 2-1 victory against Newcastle United

Newcastle were defeated at home by Leeds at St James’ Park on Tuesday. Both Newcastle United and Leeds United came from defeats in their previous league games. Newcastle United were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Arsenal. Leeds United, on the other hand, had lost their previous match against Brighton & Hove Albion. As things stand, Newcastle United are in 16th place, with 19 points from 20 matches, while Leeds United sit in 12th, with 26 points from 20.

Leeds United started strongly in the first half, beginning with Raphinha opening the scoring, 17 minutes in, finalising the first half with a 1-0.

Newcastle United took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Miguel Almiron, 57 minutes in. However, Leeds United, 61 minutes in found the back of the net following a Jack Harrison goal to hand victory to the visitors.

For Newcastle, Allan Saint-Maximin and Dwight Gayle came on for Diego Llorente, Ezgjan Alioski and Patrick Bamford, while Leeds brought on Pascal Struijk, Mateusz Klich and Tyler Roberts to replace Diego Llorente, Ezgjan Alioski and Patrick Bamford.

There were bookings for Fabian Schar from Newcastle and Ezgjan Alioski, Rodrigo Moreno and Jack Harrison for Leeds.

Leeds United and Newcastle United will next play away to Leicester City and Everton respectively.
