Wycombe enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Gillingham FC at Adams Park on Saturday. Wycombe were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Morecambe FC at home (4-3), the other to Shrewsbury Town away (2-1). Gillingham FC were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Wigan Athletic. As things stand, Wycombe are in 2nd place, with 23 points from 12 matches, while Gillingham FC sit in 19th, with 11 points from 12.
It was an impressive opening from The Chairboys, thanks to an early goal from Garath McCleary in the 2nd minute. Wycombe then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Brandon Hanlan 7 minutes into the game. The score at half time was 2-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 2-0 at full time.
For Wycombe, Anis Mehmeti, Adebayo Akinfenwa and David Wheeler, came on for Brandon Hanlan, Sam Vokes and Curtis Thompson. Gillingham FC brought on Stuart O’Keefe and Rhys Bennett, to replace Daniel Adshead and David Tutonda.
The referee booked Vadaine Oliver for Gillingham FC.
Wycombe will next play Doncaster Rovers away, with Gillingham FC facing Sunderland AFC at home.
