Wigan Athletic 3-4 Swindon Town: Wigan Athletic fail to stop visitors as Swindon Town seal the victory

Swindon Town secures a 4-3 win against Wigan Athletic at Dw Stadium on Sunday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Wigan Athletic arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Hull City. Swindon Town, on the other hand, were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Ipswich Town. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the League One season, Wigan Athletic are in 20th place on the table and has 48 points while Swindon Town sit in 23rd with 43 points after 46 matches.

Wigan Athletic started the game well, thanks to Curtis Tilt finding the net, on 17 minutes, seeing out the first half 1-0.

Wigan Athletic took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Will Keane at the 56 minute mark. However, Swindon Town weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Scott Twine, 59 minutes in. However, Wigan Athletic increased their lead with another Will Keane goal at the 60 minute mark to make it 3-1. However, Swindon Town weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Hallam Hope, 77 minutes in. Swindon Town looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Tyler Smith, 90 minutes in to establish a 3-3. However they weren’t finished yet and Scott Twine made it 4-3 just before the final whistle with a final score of 4-3.

For Wigan Athletic, Scott Wootton, Kyle Joseph, Thelo Aasgaard, Jamie Proctor and Corey Whelan, came on for Dan Gardner, Will Keane, Zach Clough, Joe Dodoo and Callum Lang. Swindon Town brought on Hallam Hope and Tyler Smith, to replace Jordan Garrick and Jack Payne.

The referee booked Jonathan Grounds for Swindon Town and Curtis Tilt saw the red card, for Wigan Athletic.
