Wigan Athletic 1 – Rotherham 0- Visitors unable to get win at Dw Stadium

Rotherham United fell to an away defeat at the hands of Wigan Athletic at Dw Stadium on Saturday. Wigan Athletic were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Sunderland AFC. Rotherham were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-0 win against Plymouth Argyle in their last match. After today’s result, both teams are on 3 points and sit in 12th and 10th places respectively after 2 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Wigan Athletic applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Will Keane giving Wigan Athletic the lead just before the final whistle. They managed to see the game out with a clean sheet and a final score of 1-0.

For Wigan Athletic, Jordan Cousins and Gavin Massey, came on for Luke Robinson and Stephen Humphrys. Rotherham brought on Shane Ferguson, Freddie Ladapo and Hakeem Odofin, to replace Mikel Miller, Joshua Kayode and Daniel Barlaser.

There were bookings for Luke Robinson, Charlie Wyke, Callum Lang and Gavin Massey from Wigan Athletic, and Wes Harding, for Rotherham.

Wigan Athletic will next play Wycombe Wanderers at home, with Rotherham facing Morecambe FC away.
