Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday lost to Wigan Athletic on a home defeat at Montgomery Waters Meadow. Shrewsbury Town were looking to get back winning ways after losing their last game 2-0 to Doncaster Rovers. Wigan Athletic were coming from consecutive wins against Crewe Alexandra and Sunderland AFC. As it stands, Shrewsbury Town are in 18th place on the table and has 50 points while Wigan Athletic sit in 20th with 47 points after 43 matches.

Wigan Athletic started the game well, with Will Keane finding the net in the 27th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Callum Lang made it 2-0 just before half-time, to take a 0-2 lead into half time.

Shrewsbury Town took the lead in the second half, thanks to Ollie Norburn finding the net, 66 minutes in, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Shrewsbury Town brought on Dave Edwards, Harry Chapman, Curtis Main and Charlie Caton for Ro-Shaun Williams, Brad Walker, Daniel Udoh and Shaun Whalley. Wigan Athletic brought on Dan Gardner and Thelo Aasgaard, to replace Viv Solomon-Otabor and Will Keane.

There were bookings for Josh Vela, Ethan Ebanks-Landell and Shaun Whalley from Shrewsbury Town. For Wigan Athletic, Funso Ojo and Dan Gardner saw yellow.

Shrewsbury Town will next play Blackpool away, with Wigan Athletic facing Burton Albion at home.
